BASS I’ve been hammering on a bass guitar for over 20 years. My first serious band was a group of high-schoolers that played rock-n-roll (they call it Classic Rock now). We had flash-pots, stage bombs, a fog machine and I blew fire as part of the show, what were my parents thinking? Well, they thought buying me bass guitars would keep me off motorcycles; little did they realize my bass would take me on many a wild and dangerous ride over the years! I played in my first bar at age 16, guess I looked older for my age. Two of my first band mates have done quite well; one plays in the Clay Walker Band and one is a Grammy nominated song writer. I guess we were planted in fertile soil. I played in various punk bands in Tuscaloosa, AL and Birmingham, AL in the 80’s and early ‘90’s including Borderline Personality Disorder, Frantic, and The Whispering Egos. I even played some jazz bass in the college stage band on a flute scholarship, because they didn’t give scholarships for playing bass. After taking some time off in the mid 90’s I began playing at various contemporary format churches in the Birmingham, AL area. These churches exposed me to some of the best musicians in the region, and I played in and recorded with Hidden Manna. I currently play bass at Journey Church in Huntersville, NC. Music and performing is part of my soul and it’s good to share the gift that I’ve been given. What makes life worth livin’? Faith, family, friends, the Blues, good BBQ, RocknRoll, college football, the taste of single barrel whiskey, and living in the South! I’m proud to rock with Outta the Blue. |

Before graduating elementary school, Jeff was playing snare drum in the high school marching band and was “hooked on drums.” By age 14, Jeff was traveling regularly on weekends across NC (particularly to country clubs in the Raleigh and Fayetteville areas) playing gigs with his high school band director’s jazz quintet. In high school he attained “All-State Band” honors all 4 years and was voted by his peers as “Most Talented” in his senior year. more... |
KEYBOARD Hubert began taking classical piano lessons at age six. “I had an older, old school piano teacher. She used to rap the back of my fingers with a conductor’s baton when I would not strike the keys properly.” At 13, Hubert quit formal lessons to start playing Rock ‘n Roll. He also played drums in the local school band program. Playing through his teens in various bands with childhood friends, he also learned jazz chording from local piano great, Jim “Pop” Stack and church organ from his church’s music director. |

RHYTHM GUITAR: After playing with several people in Long Island, NY, Gary moved his family to Charlotte, where he met the other members of Outta the Blue.
